Hi there,

Ambalangoda to Sigiriya is 7 hours by road, and Sigiriya to Negombo 4-5 hours. So I suggest you go day1 to Sigiriya, climb day2 morning (e.g. 9 to 12) and then on to Negombo.

But any stopover in between depending on your likes, e.g. Kandy, is possible; and near Sigiriya plenty of other sights like Dambulla Golden Cave Temple, Pollonaruwa ruins, Habarana elephantback ride, Habarana jeep safaris. All would require extra nights, so extending from 2 to more days (upto 6).

All the best,

Hi again,

Kitulgala maybe? Rafting, ziplining, canyoning for the sportive folkz amongst us but also just a nice river and lake town. The 'Bridge over River Kwai' movie was shot there.

Or alternatively Hunas Falls hotel between Kandy and Matale, brilliant vistas and waterfall and tea plantation at the doorstep.

All the best,

Just went to lions rock yesterday. The advice we got was to go even earlier. Start the climb at 8 as there are some hornet nest at the rock and you will be down again before they wake up.

There is no protection but in the end it is just a long staircase if you mean the climb itself. For the hornets I wore normal clothes but around seven thirty from the hotel -hotel sigiriya - and was back at nine thirty so the bees were still sleeping the guide told. Also gave up still the time to relax at the pool before going to kaudagulla np
