Exchanging money

I am from the UK but have heard you get a better exchange rate in Sri Lanka if you take US dollars instead of GBP? Does anyone know if this is true? Thank you :)

Hi there...

Even if that were true, which as Hans said it is not, you would still have to change Sterling into Dollars, so would cost you more anyway..

Take Pounds Sterling..

Of course its not true.

All the previous questions about this on the forum have had the same reply as well. I don't know why it gets asked again & again ?. Are travel agents still telling people this rubbish ?

Never change GBP or $ before coming to Sri Lanka.

Also you can use your bank card to withdraw money in Sri Lanka and ATMs/Cash Machines are widely available.

No Difference of the rate regardless of GBP or $
