Sri Lanka or Thailand/Cambodia

Hi,

Currently have these two in mind for our holiday but cant choose.

We are a late twenties couple and like a bit of culture recent holidays to Egypt/Rome etc, but would also like to spend a relaxing time somewhere. Plan for Thailand is Chang Mai, Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnon Penh, Koh Samui,

Not so sure on Sri Lanka, but definitely tea plantation, parks, buddhas tooth and then a stop on Dubai on the way back (maybe maldives as well)

Which do you feel gives the best experience for a three week holiday?

Also in Sri Lanka how difficult is it to get around using public transport? I have read some bad reports, but im not sure we could afford a driver

Thanks :)

Hi

It's really depends on your taste, having visited both, I like most Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan people lovely and lot of places to visit from wild life to beaches, but if looking more of night life then it should have to be Thailand.

Once you visited both places you won't be able select one,

Public transport in Lanka is limited, quite inferior to Thailand.

Price level might be a factor too, esp. for budget travellers Lankan accomodation is a lot more expensive now than in most Southeast Asian countries.

Maldives isn't great in that season, its peak is Nov-Apr and outside that officially it's monsoon season there. Which is far from the bad level of e.g. India but still can main groups of unsettled days.

Lanka is not really monsoon season, not in the sense of Maldives and Thailand. See

east coast is perfect and inland also decent...

All the best,

SL or Cambodia - SL every time . SL accomodation need not be expensive if you go down market. Public transport will take you to or near to most places. Far more to do and see in SL unless you really want to see loads of old temples in Siem Reap /Ankor Wat park. - not that they weren't beautiful and fasinating but it is easy to get templed out.
