Christmas/New Year's Trip with 2.5 year old

Hello fellow travelers,

Am going to Sri Lanka for the first time with our 2.5 year old daughter in tow. We will be there for only 9 full days, arriving early on 27 Dec and departing shortly after midnight on 5 Jan. We are looking for suggestions for a "family friendly" itinerary, where we can stay in two different places to use as a base for day trips. But, we would like to just relax by the beach/pool also. My daughter loves animals, so seeing some elephants and turtles would be great.

Many thanks in advance. Am trying to read through older postings as well.

Hi My Suggestion

Day 1 Airport drive you to the Negomboo take a rest and City tour Negombo

Day 2 to drive Pinnawala to see elephant orphanage. The feeding of orphan baby elephant start at 13.15 P.M. After visit of the orphanage drive to Dambulla via kurunaga to see the historical cave temple at Dambulla.

Day 3 journey to sigiriya to see the world heritage site of Sigiriya or Elephant ride, traditional bullock cart ride

Day 4 Kandy can see the temple of tooth and you can enjoy the color full cultural show with fire working.

Day 5 also Kandy you can visit botanical garden.

Day 6, 7 and 8 you can select beach Mirrisa or Unawatuna (the world heritage Galle fort which still in good shape, turtles, Boat ride, Safari)

Day 9 after 8 days of tour it’s time to do sight seen of Colombo include on the way to Negombo beach resort and to the airport for Departure

Thanks

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your recommendations. We finally decided that the drive to Dambulla/Sigiriya might be better saved for another trip to Sri Lanka, when our daughter is a little bit older and able to appreciate the cultural sights a bit more. So, we will focus on just staying on the coast, between Negombo and Galle Fort. Hopefully we will not regret that decision!
