train from Tangalle to Trinco

Hi, is it possibile to go to Trinco from Tangalle by train or bus? And how long does it take? Another question is- what place is better - Trinco or Arugam? We must choose something for the last two weeks of our holidays in July. We want to spend these two weeks mostly on the beach, so question is if the Arugam beaches are better than these around Trinco...

Hi

There in no train from Tangalle , hence it should be by Bus, trains start from Matara-Colombo-Trinco.

Arugam bay for mainly surfing .

Yes for tanning both are about equal, Arugam also good weather. But IN the sea the activities are vastly different: Arugam surf, Trinco and Passi (the latter has better train connection) swim-snorkel-surf. Also Arugam has an outside restaurant/bar scene and the other two not.

colombo- trinco route has train service ,you can also fly from colombo to an airbase near trinco on certain days by helitours. Arugam is good for surfing, trinco is town , beaches are Uppuveli and Nilaveli.

Thanx for the info, I think we will go to Trinco or Nilavel/Upuveli to be exact... Our driver promised to drop us there after the tour... So what is better Nilaveli or Upuveli? That Aqua Inn on Upuveli seems to be a nice hotel, but what to do there ? Possible to hire the scooter and go to the less known/more beautiful beaches? How about whale watching/ deep sea fishing trips during the second part of July, possibile? Any good agents? Any good restaurants with fish food? What to do? Sorry for so many questions, but we are going in two weeks and there is not so much info about the Eastern SL in the net.

See

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g293961-c122197/Sri-L…

for excursions also from Trinco area. Uppuveli beach has less hotels than Nilaveli, but beach quality is similar. And quite a limited choice of restaurants outside the hotels as mentioned above (Arugam is much better in this), Nilaveli has 1-2 and that's it..

Trinco not so developed area , uncrowded beaches on weekdays, not many tourists, while Arugam has lot of places to stay ,eat and has the party atmosphere , If you want to spend two weeks on the beach

Arugam-passikudah- kalkudah- trinco are all on the eastern stretch if you hire a cab you can cover the distance easily . More info here ,

okay the last question - how long is the trip from Trinco to Arugam? Possibile by bus, train or cab? Maybe we will stay a week in Upuveli and than a week in Arugam, it will be the best solution I think...

Approx. 5-6 hours by car. No trains on that route.
