These days I'm planning our trip to Sri Lanka (we are two!). We'll use BUS.
I would like to understand how to be self-sufficient in using the local BUS. I looked here http://www.ntc.gov.lk/ and I found this PDF: http://www.ntc.gov.lk/pdf/2013_ENG_A4.pdf could you tell me if it is [still] reliable?
In this PDF there are the routes, but not the intermediate stations and even times. The timetable that I found here: http://www.ntc.gov.lk/sub_pgs/projects_1.html does not cover all routes.
For example I would like to leave early in the morning and go from Negombo to Pinnawala to see the elephants and then in the afternoon / evening go to Kandy. How can I do this? I read this post: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g293961-i8983-k600 ... but I did not understand too well the final choice:
- I take the first bus from Negombo to Kandy who will stop at Kegalle or Rambukkana
- I'll stop in Kegalle or Rambukkana and from there take a tuk tuk or local bus (how can I find it?) To Pinnawala
- In the evening I go to Kegalle or Rambukkana (where?) And take a bus to Kandy
Any advice is welcome!
Thanks in advance!
