Hi there,

Well all indirect public transport won't have space for a surfboard. Hence it's either

* Direct bus; the tourist bus (1 x per day at least) allows surfboards and other heavy luggage, don't know about the new SLTB Luxury bus having space for this

* Car-driver for a part. Cheapest solution is to take train Colombo-Ella (9-10 hours) and then cab next day for the remaining 3+ hours to Arugam, that's around USD 80 for the cab part. And inverse route return. Car all the way also works, then still Ella is a good stopover in one direction and then maybe Kandy or Galle as stopover for the return ride.

All the best,
