Itinerary advice

Hi all, I am hoping for some input on the following itinerary for those with knowledge. We really just want to enjoy the scenery and food, so any comments and suggestions are welcome. We enjoy the 'getting from one place to the next' as much as the time spent in each place. We are fit and strong and enjoy being active too. Money is not an issue, but we do prefer to travel on a budget.

Day 1 arrive and stay overnight Negombo

Day 2,3 & 4 - travel either to Kandy for 3 nights or to Sigiriya for 1 night then Kandy for 2 (which would you choose? Would we be best to base ourselves in Kandy and do day trips?) Either hire driver or take train?

Day 5 - Nuwara Eliya overnight (travel by train)

Day 6 & 7 Ella (travel by train)

Day 8 Uda Wilawe NP (driver from here on out)

Day 9, 10 & 11 - Mirissa

Day 12, 13 & 14 - either Galle for 2 nights then Colombo for 1 or Galle for 1 night and Colombo for 2

Day 15 - home

1. Re: Itinerary advice

Hi there,

Best is to have car-driver upto Mirissa. Do a DAY train ride Kandy-Eliya (or Ella), with that scenery it's stupid to do by night; car picks you up at end again. Airport-Sigiriya-Hills-UW-Mirissa is a nice route, and Galle is good for a half day stopover or even short visit from Mirissa.

All the best,

<Erik> & [Sandya]
