visiting Sri Lanka in October

We are thinking of visiting Sri LAnka at the end of October - which areas should we avoid given the rains? Thanks

1. Re: visiting Sri Lanka in October

End October to around Christmas is in the 2nd inter monsoon season with quite unsettled weather.

You may experience 3 types of days:

- Fully clouded with the odd shower, light or heavy

- 3-4 hours sunshine after 8 am and clouds building up in the afternoon with hefty thundershowers late afternoon, evening and night

- sun-clouds-rain-sun again and so on with the sunny spells lasting at least an hour and minimum 4 hours per day.

Does it rain a. Lot? Will we be able to go diving and hiking and be outdoors ?

We have enough rain where we live and don't want it on vacation too :-(

Well late october is not a good time for a beach holiday.

You probably won't be able to dive since the sea will be rough. And as for hiking, it's hard to predict.

Rain is usually what's described in reply #1.
