luxury boutique hotels

We are planning a trip in October and would like to stay not far from the airport for a couple of nights.

Love small and quirky but no roughing it please!

Any suggestions?

Hi again Wendy,

A reasonable overview (but not necessarily the booking site) you find at

boutiquesrilanka.com/boutique_hotels_sri_lan…

Reddot have a good facility to search accommodation.

Have a look at:

reddottours.com/17-89-0-accommodation-search…

for boutique hotels on the NE coast.

I had the same desire as you and did a whole lot of research. I opted for Wallawa because I have just one night and being close to the airport was important. If you are ok heading more into colombo, Tintagel would also be a very nice option. My 3rd choice was The Beach in Negombo.

I agree with the Wallawwa suggestion. It is currently number 1 of all Colombo hotels and you'll find local ex-pats singing its praises too. It has its own website and you can also look at it on the Red Dot Tours website - the Wallawwa is partly owned by a British Red Dot Director. I am putting my money where my mouth is and staying for three nights at the end of my visit to Sri Lanka in June. When I e-mailed them I got an instant reply, always reassuring. I am also staying at Tintagel (on arrival for three nights) but that is an hour's drive form the airport and I've e-mailed them twice and received no reply at all!
