Ideas for last-minute Turkey trip? :)

Got our hands on a week of holidays! :) And...starting already next week, so...was thinking of how to make the most of it. Would like to go somewhere warmer (than Germany:) and see this and that. Turkey has been on our minds for a while now, so...why not?!? :)

Any suggestions for a week at the beginning of March? It´s not the season yet, that´s clear, so...just Istanbul? Or...int the south its already smelling like spring? :) What are the must-see places in Turkey, culture-wise?

The weather in the Antalya Region of Turkey - ie Lara Beach, Antalya, Belek and Side - is the warmest area of Turkey in March as it is 14 hours drive due south from Istanbul and right on the Mediterranean. But if you haven't been to Istanbul before now, it is a lovely city with lots to do.

I think you must ask yourselves what you want from the holiday - history and culture in a busy city like Istanbul but with fantastic markets, shopping and the Blue Mosque, etc. Or perhaps history and culture but also a beautiful long beach to walk along the promenade there - turtles - Roman ruins and an active amphitheatre - shops - Saturday market - harbour area with boat trips - day trips starting at just £4 to Antalya and Duden Waterfall Park - then look at Side which is just 50 minutes drive from Antalya airport.

AVERAGE TEMPERATURES IN SIDE FOR MARCH (Istanbul will be considerably cooler)

Day-time temperature - 18 degrees

Night-time temperature - 8 degrees

Sunshine hours - 7

Rainy days - 9

Water temperature - 16

Hi evotska,

Come to Fethiye, it's beautiful here now and there's plenty to do. And we have Oludeniz lagoon which is warm enough to swim in.
