Turkey and Greece 2 week itinerary. Please help!

Hello,

My husband and I are planning to our first visit Turkey and Greece next year (Late april-may).

We are on a budget as I am just finishing school but want to mix adventure and romantic together as best as possible.

So here's where we want to visit:

Istanbul (IN)

Cappadocia 2-3 days

Pamukkle

maybe Selcuk?

Santorini 2-3 days

Athens (OUT)

Flying from Toronto, we're hoping to do Istanbul In, Athens Out.

I'm trying to figure out how long we can spend in each + travel time.

I've read mixed reviews of flying/o.n bus from istanbul-cappadocia, that for the price, bus is effiecient.

How long is the flight/bus from :

istanbul - cappadocia

cappadocia - pamukkle

pamukkle - selcuk

And to go to Santorini, how long would the ferries take?

Would it be too much if I added mykonos on the way to Santorini? Is there such route?

What would be the ideal way to distribute time?

(How many days/ where..)

Thanks!

Not to sound malicious, but I think that you need to contact a travel agent for an itinerary such as yours. People here can advise on intra-Turkey travel, but the inclusion of ferries et al. to Greece is probably beyond the scope of what is done here on TA. Additionally, information now may not be current next year, and you have not indicated how long you want to stay in each place. Good luck with this itinerary (maybe you need to contact Greece Forum n TA for your questions concerning travel to and within Greece.

Fly from Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevsehir (Cappadocia), with Turkish Airlines, AtlasJet or Pegasus.

Fly Kayseri to Izmir with Pegasus or SunExpress. Visit Ephesus.

Make your way by bus to Pamukkale and then to Bodrum. Take boat from Bodrum to Kos; take ferry from Kos to Santorini - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 19:45 - www.bluestarferries.com/site/content.asp…

Thanks for the input cagcag,

I did go to my local travel agent and most of them recommended packages which does not fit my itinerary.

Ex. day trip to Santorini when I want to spend more time there, or stopping at other cities that I'm less interested...) So that's why I started my own research. Didn't sound like they knew much about the cities as they have not been there either.

You'd be surprised how knowledgeable ppl are at TA!

Just going through the forums helps tremendously. And these ppl have been there, done that.

I'm just hoping that these knowledgeable ppl see my post and give me some feedback :)

And davidm1,

I appreciate your help with the links to the ferries :)

David suggestions are the best to get around Turkey in a shorter period of time..use flights instead of buses are you are looking at a 1 hr flight compared to 12 hrs over night buses

have a look at the Turkey travel Planner web site for helpful ideas..

You certainly cannot see all of Turkey within the time frames of 2 -3 weeks but a glimspes of the wonderful areas.
