In my experience what you have suggested is what most tourists visiting Turkey do which is Istanbul, west coast, bit of south and maybe Cappadocia without venturing to the centre, black sea area, east or south eastern parts of the country.

The latter listed parts offer a very different holiday experience to the overly touristic west and south coast.

I'd definitely advise you to do Cappadocia. Since you will be doing it with tours from there you could do a 3-4 day tour of Nemrut, Gaziantep & Sanliurfa as well which will be a lifetime experience on its own.

This tour company specialising in the south east is run by a female named Alison receives positive reviews on travel boards

South east tours can also be arranged whilst in Cappadocia as well.

Good luck, have fun and hope it all works out for you.

Gallipoli is easily reached from Istanbul by bus. I'd recommend to do it via Edirne where you could also spend 1/2 a day to a day and break up the journey.

Could do Gallipoli for a few days on your way to Selcuk, Marmaris or Antalya

Most defo yes!Cappadocia is amongst the 3 top must see places in Turkey, well ahead of coastal area's.The south coast is lovely in parts and interesting but ultimately a coast and beach is a coast and beach and can be seen anywhere. With only 3 weeks your priorities need to be tighter than that.

As an Aussie of course Gallipoli is important for you.Resmen mentioned Edirne, very nice city but for a first visit it would not even feature in my top 10 must see's.

Istanbul should be on your list,so should Cappadocia,if you have historical interest then so should Ephesus. If you are prepared to travel fast(not a slow, lazy trip) then it would also be possible to fit in 3-5 days in the south east too and if you go there then Nemrut Mountain should be in your to do list for that region.

That sounds okay yes.As you probably realise it will be quite a whistle stop tour, escorted tours always are,but it will give you a taste of each place and hit the highlights and then maybe who knows, you may come back again to visit new places and to revisit those you enjoyed on this tour but see them more leisurely.

P.S.Are you any where near Duncraig?
