New Year's Eve and Day in Istanbul

We are arriving in Istanbul early afternoon on December 31. We will be in Istanbul for about 6 days, but does anyone have any suggestions for what we can do on New Year's Eve? Will any of the sites be open on New Year's Day? We are a family with 3 older children.

Hi Lynn,

I can recommend you to go to Kervansaray Restaurant where there are helded the famous folkloristic dances and shows (inluding belly dancers).. The dinner also is recommended.. I'm a turkish travel agent working for Italians and they really enjoy it.. check it out www.kervansaraygroup.com

On the new year's day (01.01) all the museums and sites are open in the afternoon and some of them are even open by the morning, but it's thursday and on thursdays the dolmabahce and beylerbeyi palaces are always closed..

Have fun!
