Wanting to see a bellydance show

I want to see a good bellydance show whilst in Istanbul but will be travelling there alone. Is it okay for women to go to the restaurants or bars where there is bellydancing alone? I will be staying in the Sultanhamet (Hotel Agan) and would like to know where I could see a show there.

Hi nattygirl,

Normally, at Turkish restaurants, there are no belly dance shows. However there are a few touristic restaurants that offer belly dance shows. Usually they have a fixed menu and the price is fixed. Here are some restaurants with a show. "silkroadhotels.com/nightlife/nighttour.htm".

Also there is Fırat Cultural center at Sultanahmet that has belly dance shows besides whirling dervishes and folk dances from different locations in Turkey. Here is a link: "http://www.dancesofcolours.com/.

Yes you can go to restaurants or shows by yourself.

good luck,

Are there any places that regularly feature traditional turkish dance and/or bellydance that arent "tourist" places? Its such beautiful, graceful dance I would love to see next time I visit.
