Unfortunately, there are many hills in Istanbul and some of the pavements aren't the best either. However there is a very good tram system, plenty taxis and most of the Historical sites are very close together.

You could consider Hotel Nena as it is literally only a few steps of the main street, Divan Yolu and the tram stop. It also has a lift which many of the hotels lack.

I hope somone else has more knowledge of the precise location of some of your other hotel choices.

Hi countrygirl,

If you're looking for a hotel that's not on a hill at all, you might want to check out Faros Hotel. Faros Hotel is right across from the Sultanahmet tram stop and is located in the flat area surrounding Sultanahmet Square. As the previous poster said, Nena is also a good choice, as are Ottoman Imperial and Valide Sultan (although Valilde Sultan requires a very short walk up a small hill.)

You'll find it difficult to avoid hills in Istanbul, but by using the tram, metro and taxis, you can usually avoid them if they present a problem.

Hi ,

Hotel Alzer could be a good choice. It is next to Hippodrome.

Hotel Seven Hills is also a good choice but it has a very small hill walking (like Mavi Ev which you have mentioned). Although Seven Hills very well reviewed in TA and has probabely the best rooftop terrace in Istanbul.

Good luck

I can recommend the Zeynep Sultan Hotel which has a great location on a very quiet street (no traffic) 2 or 3 blocks from the entrance to Hagia Sophia. The terrace, where breakfast is served, has a nice view of Hagia Sophia.
