Visa for US citizens

My wife and I will be flying into Istanbul from Jordan. Can we get our visas on arrival? We will be in Turkey 10 days. Thank you for any help.

Yes, 3 month multiple entry vis costs a US citizen US$ 20:

(Ignore the dates, they haven't updated them properly and have yet to publish the 2013 data).

You just join the visa queue (opposite passport control), give them your passport with US$ 20 (exact money), and they will put a visa stamp in your passport which you then take to passport control.

What is the best method for getting a visa prior to leaving the U.S?

cohencoy, I suggest you get it at the airport if you are a US citizen. It is a lot cheaper that way. If you still want to get a visa in US, then apply to the Turkish Consulate in Houston: "http://houston.cg.mfa.gov.tr/".

cohencoy, the process for getting a Visa at the IST is so easy, it seems an unnecessary hassle to try to get it in advance.

Awesome! Thanks. I just hate those long lines after international flights. I guess Istanbul in February will be easy peasy. I appreciate the help.

The line varies depending on how many flights come in at once, and how quickly you get off the plane, but it's got to be easier than dealing with any consulate!

A good suggestion I've learned is to have the $20 in your passport when you travel. That way you are not fumbling for your money in the airport.
