Black Sea - Agva

Hi, will be in Istanbul early september and plan to see and take a dip in the black sea.. through research here we found out prefer choices to be agva and sile.. also everybody recommends driving by ourselves. Can somebody tell us if we hire a taxi, lets say by 12:30 -1:00pm (we cannot do it before this) and return the same day.. how much would a cab charge? expensive we have hear, but an approx idea would help.. Also, can we instead take a ferry to either of these locations?

We have found this as another option half day bosphorus and black sea tour. It is from 1 pm to 5:30 pm.with swimming at on Anadolu Kavagi - any idea how good or bad is this? thanks in advance

Hi,

Taxi is not an option. You can contact travel agencies for transfer which will be cheaper. You'll spend around 3 hours on way to/from Şile so half day is not feasable and there's no ferry option. Do not know where you'll swim at Anadolukavağı but I think its an organized tour.

In your limited time, I dont advice both. If you want to swim in Black Sea, prefer Kilyos which is closer to city and easily accessible by metro&bus connection. http://www.kilyos.org/index_eng.html

screename18, No ferries to AGVA or Sile.

You can either take a bus (No. 139A) from Harem to Agva or rent a car and drive yourself. Of course you can take a taxi to AGVA but that would be expensive. It is more than 100 km's from Istanbul and one way taxi would charge around 200 TL. However if you negotiate a fare, perhaps for 300 TL you can get a R/T taxi fare. Remember the driver has to wait for you at Agva. However the bus will cost around 5 TL/person but will take around 3 hours to get there with lots of stops. So the choice is yours.

There is no swimming at Anadolu Kavagi. However you can swim nicely at Poyraz closer to Black sea. It is the nearby village to A. Kavagı.. Here are the ferry schedules: "sehirhatlari.com.tr/Uploads/Sehir-Hatlari-20…". (page 20 Poyraz ferries).

good luck,

enigma...
