Sultanahmet hotel location - Ada/Basileus vs Yazar?

We have a day-long stopover at IST between two overnight flights in early January, and are planning to book a room to sleep for a few hours and then go exploring - possible destinations are spice bazaar or grand bazaar, or miniaturk. We are two adults and two small children.

The Ada and Basileus hotels are close to each other in price and location; Yazar is in a different area, and is a bit cheaper.

Can anyone offer an opinion on the relative merits of one area or the other? Or one of the hotels vs the others?

Many thanks in advance!!!

MAL, You need to read the reviews and compare prices. Since you are going to stay overnight, the room may not matter that much. Basileus and Ada have better locations closer to the Blue Mosque.

If you are flying with Turkish Airlines on both legs of your flight, you may qualify for a free hotel if yours is a "forced layover". Check with the hotel desk at the Ataturk Airport upon arrival or email "hoteldesk@thy.com". "turkishairlines.com/en-int/travel-informatio…".

Thanks. From what I've read of the rules, we don't qualify for the free hotel.

I've read the reviews - people are very happy with all three places - it was more just a question of the location, in case one neighborhood was much better or worse than the other...

As Enigma told you above, the Ada/Basilus have the better location closer to the Blue Mosque and if you are only there one night and not have much time in Istanbul, location is probably more important.
