Public bicycles in Istanbul?

After one week I will be in Istanbul for three days and I think the best way how to see many places in city is to rent a bike. So, is there any public bicycle renting system in Istanbul? Any advice?

There aren't many cyclists around as the roads are narrow, there are vehicles parked on both sides, there are many hills in the city & people in control of motor vehicles aren't as courteous as some other places towards 2 wheeled road users. Doesn't mean it can't be done though as if there were more cyclicts & motorcyclists around there would be less traffic congestion. Alternatively you could walk or use public tranpsort like the locals do it.

Here are a few rental places which I have no affiliation with

Hi Peter,

There is public bicycle renting system in Istanbul. You will see one of the renting stations (automated self-renting) situated very close to Hagia Sophia in Sultanahmet. They work with coins. There are some other renting stations in the public park along Kennedy Bld by the Sea of Marmara. As ResmeN said it is not easy to ride a bike in the Old Town since it is very crowded with people and the streets are too narrow (it is the old town you know) in the area.

Happy travel,
