New IZBAN trains now running

The State Railway engineers have worked wonders, and the electric trains are now connecting Selçuk with Izmir (Adnan Menderes) Airport.

At present ten trains run each day. I'm not certain of the timetable from the Airport as you have to change trains at TEPEKOY to get through.

Times from SELCUK (change at Tepekoy for the airport)

05.56 07.05 08.15 10.20 12.46 14.14 15.45 16.55 19.12 21.20

Times "from Tepekoy to Selcuk"

06.23 07.43 09.35 11.54 13.45 14.55 16.13 18.10 19.53 22.10

I checked with the staff at the station this evening and I'm told the regular (diesel) trains are still running, between Basmane in Izmir, Adnan Menderes Airport, and Selcuk, with no change needed at Tepekoy.

That makes a total of 18 trains per day connecting to Selcuk now!

Robert L, Thanks for this wonderful piece of news. I am sure this will give a boost to tourism at Selcuk/Ephesus and beyond.

How much does it cost to go to Izmir (city) by using IZBAN.? Is it faster than the regular diezel train?

enigma...

The "old" trains take one hour to reach the airport from Selcuk, maybe 70 minutes at most.

The new IZBAN trains are swifter, but you have to change at Tepekoy, so the time taken is probably a bit more. I've not yet tested the system myself, but if I was heading for a flight, I would choose the older train timetable. No I wouldn't, I'd book with Atlas Jet and use their free shuttle.]

Thanks a lot!!! We are heading to istanbul thereafter and we plan to take the last 2 flights of that day. The time taken to travel to airport by either trains will help us see which flight option is better. We wish to stay as long as we can until the attractions close too..haha

Are the stations of the regional and electric trains at the same location?

Yes - Izban and trains run on the same tracks, and stop at the same stations between airport and Selcuk. If the IZBAN train time is more convenient, you need to change at TEPEKOY, same platform.
