Can't go to Ein Bokek in rental car?

Shalom,

I have a rental car reservation for picking the car in Jerusalem and delivering it in Tel Aviv three days later. This will be my first driving experience in Israel. I had planned to go from Jerusalem to Ein Bokek early in the morning, having a bath at the Dead Sea, and arriving in Eilat on the same day. Now I noticed that at the reservation confirmation there is a clause that says that I may not "drive into Palestinian Authority territory".

hat are my options? How much longer is the road from Jerusalem to Ein Bokek if I don't pass through the Palestinian territory?

I'm confused.

Thanks for your help.

Regarding the great GPS debate (and I have been among the "don't bother" camp). . . .

If it really only costs $75 to download the Israel maps onto a Garmin, I may well do that on my next trip and give it a go, backed by my Israel maps and trusted navigator Joy. That way I'll have some first hand experience.

But I'm also a Hebrew-speaker so perhaps have a leg-up compared to people completely unfamiliar with Hebrew on how Garmin wants me to spell a city or street.

Some like them, some find them borderline useless. I would NEVER rely on it to the exclusion of a good map.
