Trip Jerusalem

Hello!

From February 14th till the 21th my familiy ( 5 people including me) and I are in Israël. We stay in Eilat but we'll go to Jerusalem. Do you have any advice for us, like things we certainly have to see or the best way to travel. We also are searching a guide. We prefer a guide who speaks the Dutch language, but Enlish or German is also fine. I'll love to hear from you!

Denise from Holland

Do you plan to be in Jerusalem a single day? Or will you stay overnight there and have several days to spend in Jerusalem? If so, how many days?

Hi Denise!

I recommend you to plan 2 nights in Jerusalem, if you really wan to "sip" from the city. The "don't miss" advice I can tell you - just tour the 4 quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem. Taking a guide would be a great choice.

As for "don't miss" advice in Eilat:

* Underwater observatory

* Dolphin reef

* iMax

* King's City

Outside of the city, but worths a visit: Timna Park.

You are more than welcome to use Eilat's official Tourism website:

http://www.redseaeilat.com/

As for guides in Jerusalem, you can refer to the official website of Israel's Ministry of Tourism - there is a list of licensed guides by languages:

goisrael.com/Tourism_Eng/Tourist%20Informati…

As for transportation from Eilat to Jerusalem and back - book 2-way tickets for all your family in advance, as soon as you get to Eilat. (route #444 of "Egged" company - http://egged.co.il/Eng/ ).

Booking tickets can be done over the phone (+972-3-6948888) or physically at the cashier booth in the central bus station of Eilat (Sun-Thu 06:00-19:00, Fri 04:40-14:30)

(unfortunately Egged's online booking website is currently only in Hebrew)

Have fun!

Amos

One day in Jerusalem really makes no sense -- first because it's only one day and a week in Jerusalem is not too much, and because that's a heckuva drive from Eilat to go for just one day. Consider two, but it's obviously your trip.

Do you mean you are thinking of taking a day trip from Eilat to Jerusalem, or staying one night in Jerusalem?

It is five hours' travelling time in each direction - hardly a day trip!

I recommend Uriah Yaniv. He is a native Dutch speaker and can be reached at:

He is not only an excellent guide but also holds a licensed for transporting tourists throughout the country.

It makes no sense to travel from Eilat to Jerusalem (the most fascinating on earth IMHO) for just a single day. The drive from Eilat to Jerusalem in and of itself will take you nearly a full day. Much more sensible to spend two nights in the Holy City.
