Travelling from Akko or Nazareth to Sea of Galilee

I am going to Israel for 9 days. I want to go to Akko and Nazareth, and from there I want to travel to Sea of Galilee. What is the best way to go by public transport, and which places would be to the most interesting to see at the Sea of Galilee? Is it safe to go to Sea of Galiee right now?

Hello and welcome to TripAdvisor!

First, you should bear in mind that public transportation in Israel (trains and buses) stop on friday afternoon till saturday night.

Akko can be easily reached by train from Ben Gurion airport (which I assume is where you are coming from?)

Nazareth can be reached by bus #343 from Akko.

From Nazareth to Tiberias you take #431.

Use http://www.bus.co.il to find bus schedules, and http://www.rail.co.il/EN/Pages/Homepage.aspx for train schedules.

Chrisitian sites around the Sea of Galilee include:

Capernaum, Tabgha, Mount of Beatitudes, Kursi, the Jesus's period wooden boat at Ginosar and more. Other DEs will fill in more.

You should know that it would be harder to get around the Sea of Galilee with public transportation, I would recommend a rental car or taxis or bikes and/or walking.

It is safe to go to the Sea of Galilee, as the rest of Israel.

It is easy to reach Mt of Beatitudes and Tabgha from Tiberias by busses 450, 841 and more. Caphernaum is just 2 km further, but there is also Golan bus 52. It is all very easy.
