Yitzhak Rabin border crossing

We will be entering Israel from Jordan through Yitzhak Rabin land crossing and subsequently we will be travelling to Jerusalem by bus 444 from Eilat. My first preference is to book 1000 hrs departure from Eilat.

I have no idea how much time I should esimate for border crossing formalities and taxi ride from the border to Eilat CBS. Can anyone please advise. Accordingly, I need to book a taxi from Wadi Rum (Jordan) to drop us off at the border.

If I need to plan for too early arrival then I will probably opt for 1445 departure.

I will be travelling on a Thursday morning, if that helps. Cheers.

You should ask on the Jordanian forum about the taxi from Wadi Rum to the border.

Generally speaking it does not take long to cross over in the middle of the morning or day. Tours going into Jordan from Israel in the early morning take a long time which is why you see recommendations on this forum to consider up to 2 hours. When returning or depending on the time of day when things are slower, plan on an hour to be safe. That gives you time at the Jordanian side to get your exit stamp, go through security and get your entry stamp into Israel. It could go faster but you never know.

There are taxis at the border crossing on the Israeli side and it takes only about 10 minutes to the bus station.

If you feel you can be at the border by 8:45 then book the 10:00 bus. Once at the CBS you must find the ticket dispensing machine -Eilatomat- to collect your ticket. It is advisable to be at the bus station at least 20 minutes before departure.

Thank you both.

What's the average rate for the taxi ride from the border to the bus station? I read earlier in the forum 35-40 NIS - is that fair estimate for 2 passengers?

Also is there a money exchange facility at the border (Israeli side)?

There is a money exchange facility on the Israeli side.

Here's the official website, for more information: www.iaa.gov.il/RASHAT/en-US/Borders/Arava
