Leaving a Car in Eilat while Going to Jordan

Hello!

We are renting a car while in Israel, but are also going to Jordan to visit Petra for a few days. We were wondering is there a place we could leave the car in Eilat since we cannot take the rent-a-car over the border?

For example, is it possible that hotels would let us keep our car in their parking lot for two days? We have emailed a couple of hotels about this situation, but have not received a response yet.

Thank you for your help as always!

Are you staying in Eilat? if so, you should be able to leave the car by your hotel.

If the only reason for coming to Eilat is visiting Petra, then my advise is to spear the expensive gas from where you come from (Jerusalem 300 km, Tel Aviv 350 km, each direction) and take a bus or catch a flight.

If you're planning to stay in Eilat or bring your rental car, there is a parking lot adjacent to the border terminal with Jordan (http://www.iaa.gov.il/Rashat/en-US/Borders/Arava/UsefulTerminalInfo/ParkingLots/ ) which you can use.

Thanks!

We are going to be visiting places like Avdat, Mitzpe Ramon and then heading up to the Dead Sea/ Masada, so having a car in the area will be helpful.

We also are a group of four in which one member struggles with public transportation which is why we are considering driving both ways to/from Eilat (instead of one way). We figured with four members that the gas prices would be equal to the bus fare.

We will have one night in Eilat so we can cross the border into Jordan in the morning.

Many people have reported that they have left rental cars in the lot at the border crossing for a day or two with no problems.
