Wedding in Israel

Can you please recommend a great intimate wedding venue in Jerusalem or Galilee for approximately 100 guests? Thank you.

To add to shoshi's questions:

Indoors? Outdoors?

The good news is that many halls will not be booked in late July because that is the 3 weeks before Tisha B'Av (a period during which no Jewish weddings take place and no live music is played). The bad news is that some halls close entirely during that period. The good news is you should have your pick of the halls which *are* open.

Thank you. We do want to respect local customs and holidays and are happy to move the date out a bit if necessary. We would prefer an outdoor event.

There is no need to move the date. Jewish weddings (world wide) are not held during that time period BUT a Christian wedding is okay. No one will be insulted--and the halls will be happy to have you. I attended a wedding years ago that had the ceremony poolside. I have to figure out the hotel--cause it was one of the 3 near Herzl--in Jerusalem and they keep changing names.

Also outside--Eretz Bereshit ( Genesis Land in English) does weddings ( don't know minimum number or cost)

Also Neot Kdumin--again, no information--just giving a name

look on this site for ideas

Don't be put off by places saying they have capacity for 400 or 800. Many can make their facilities smaller and because you ARE getting married at a very very slow time--they may be willing to do 100, while they wouldn't do that number during a busy season! Bottom line ASK!

There really is no reason for you to change the date you want - the restriction on weddings, etc. for this 3 week period applies only to Jewish events and the fact that you are having a wedding then will not be disturbing to anyone and not considered offensive to local customs - though I do appreciate your sensitivity.

If anything, having a wedding during this time may make things easier for you, and may give you more leverage in negotiating a price.

There are dozens and dozens of places. Here are some ideas:

One hundred guests is small by Israeli weddings standards, so you may also want to consider non-conventional sites: The Israel Museum's "Modern" restaurant, the Bible Lands Museum, etc., Beit Ticho (dairy restaurant with lovely garden for events).

In the Galilee, you could go with a site like the Scots Hotel:

What church are uou affiliated with? There may be somewhere church connected that would fit the bill somewhere in the Galilee. Not necessarily in a church.
