Ideal tour company?

We are a family of 4 (kids aged 9 & 13) and did an Israel highlights tour 2 years ago. We are returning hoping to do "the best of the rest"! Ayelet and Shalom tours seem to offer an almost identical itinerary (some of which we've done already) so which one? While private guides are great they are expensive for more than a few days and we enjoy the company of a smallish group. Any suggestions?

Most tour companies offer nearly identical tours that visit the main tourist attractions. The odds of funding a package tour that will only visit places that you have not seen are about zero. Your only option is to plan a custom tour with a private guide.

Alternatively , you can simply rent a car and visit the places to want to see on your own, supplementing that with the occasional guided tour. Having already visited Israel once, you know that driving by yourself is not a problem and that you do not need a guide in many places.

You got very god advice from mbgg. I would only add that this way you cam tailor the trip to your kids needs like the Rosh Hanikra grottos, Ayalon Bullet factory, Latroun Armor museum and much more. Tell us how long your trip is and we can help you plan it and advice for what parts to take a private guide.

Hi Shoshi,

We don't wish to drive - too stressful - we're from Australia - opposite side etc. We are in Israel for about 3 weeks. I'd like to combine group touring and private guides. Given the advice that most tour groups' itineraries are identical I need advice on which one has the best reputation and which ones attract more families than older people. We've been to Ayalon which was brilliant.

Try the Abraham hotel tours. They have tours of the Gallili too and have good reputation and small groups.

See http://www.fauziazarinn.com/tours/ They offer a different experience.
