KFC - Anywhere?

Hi,

I am wondering if KFC is still around in Israel and if not - can you perhaps provide some information as to when it was closed and the reason for it? Any information is much appreciated.

Best regards,

B.

According to Wikipedia, Israel is a "currently abandoned market". Scroll down on this page to find brief info:

It's been a while and I can't tell you how long it's been but KFC is no longer in Israel.

But - we have so many restaurants and dining options here that you will definitely not go hungry - your problem will be deciding where to eat and how to not eat too much :)

Starbucks also closed in Israel. It is just one of those things where there are different tastes (and budgets) that make things work or not in any one market. Chicken is served everywhere in Israel but not usually deep fried. Roasted, grilled, panfried, or served breaded as Shnitzel is very common. There are unlimited ways to eat chicken in Israel- sandwiches, salads, shwarma, entree, somehow KFC doesn't 'fit' in.

KFC did well when it opened, it was a novelty. I also went--because it was a novelty and when I found that it really tasted terrible, I never returned. I doubt I am unique in my assessment.

Wendy also failed in Israel. Starbucks was doomed from the very beginning because they started in Tel Aviv. If their first places were Ra'anana or other more ex Anglo-US populated areas they could make it. Using too much fat and sugar won't work here.

Dunkin Donuts also failed - too sweet and inedible for the Israeli palate.

Israelis coffee shops serve quality Italian coffee - Lavazza, Segafredo, etc. Starbucks tastes like brown water in comparison.

KFC is not what it used to be over here either in terms of taste.

It is interesting to hear about these differences in tastes and why they didn't work.

Badilicious, are you asking because you are hoping to eat KFC in Israel, or because you are doing research on KFC around the world?!

I cannot tell you how I rejoiced when KFC failed in Israel. And when Starbuck failed. Seriously -- isn't the world homogenized enough?
