Serious risk of flash floods over next 2 days

As anyone in Israel will have noticed the weather has been weird over the past day or two and is getting weirder. There are already thunderstorms in Sinai and in parts of the Negev and during the night storms and rain are forecast for most parts of the country.

The official Israel Meteorological Service (ims.gov.il/IMSENG/All_Tahazit/homepage.htm) is warning of a risk of flash floods and flooding in eastern and southern wadis (dry river beds).

If you're planning tours please check the media.

The weather forecaster in that video (the man in the red shirt) said that rain in May isn't unusual, but this was something unprecedented - the wettest May day since the establishment of the state; more rain on that one day than in the whole of January and February combined!

As already noted - the Kinneret went up 2.5 cm today.

Which is great for the Kinneret, but not for my long-planned cycling trip around it, which was supposed to be today... :( Oh well.

Seen the video, what a mess. Hope yous dry out a bit in the coming days.

Can't read or speak Hebrew, just curious. What did the guy in the blue shirt, following the flood video do. Sorry way off topic, just curious.

Shawn - that guy in the blue shirt was mayor of Bat Yam, just south of Tel Aviv. He's been convicted of breach of trust after making a plea bargain in order to avoid more serious corruption charges.

Aren't you glad you asked?

Thank you PRSV,

I live in Metro Detroit, don't know if you've seen any news of the Detroit Mayor. But talk about breech of trust, he tops them all.

Have seen a bit of news about organized crime over there, was just wondering if that blue shirted dude was part of it, guess not.

Most of the rain was in the south and center of the country, with less precipitation in the north. This was very similar to the big snow storm that hit in December.
