Visiting Church of Nativity on Christmas Day (or Eve)

We plan to visit B on 12-24 (Shepherd Field/Wall/Graffiti/Refuge camp). I imagine the church is probably close for regular tourist visit and therefore are planning to stay overnight only if is possible to visit the church really early (say 6) on Christmas day before the activity starts. Or would the church be closed for visit on 12-25?

It must be special celebrating christmas festivities in B but if it is at the expense of visiting the inside church we may have to prioritize which one is more important and change the visiting date when necessary,

Thank you for the info,

If you want to spend Christmas Eve in Bethlehem you should be booking your accommodation now. As far as I know, the church is open on Christmas Eve/Day only for pilgrims with tickets in advance. Contact the Christian Information Center for details: http://www.cicts.org/

Indeed Christmas is a very special day in Bethlehem, you shouldn't miss it. So many activities and events occur during that day and period. The streets around the Church of the Nativity will be blocked for the car's access (Except the authorized cars that escort the Patriarchate). It will be busy, however people can walk freely.

You can visit the Church of the Nativity, but if you want to attend the mass at Saint Catherine's Church, you will need a ticket. Other than that, everything will should be fine.

I highly advise that you stay in Bethlehem too and book your room from now. I can recommend Manger Square Hotel, it's just a stone's throw away from the Nativity Church and number one hotel in the area.
