Thanks... does it mean that only Israelis can buy it? it does not make much sense, as they have service in English and Russian... Have anyone faced such problem when buying a ticket from Egged via phone?

Can also someone please advise if normally tickets can be bought couple of days before the planned trip at the bus station? or are they quickly selling out?

I’m also interested in the answer to this question since I am planning to order tickets for my upcoming bus trip Tel Aviv – Eilat – Jerusalem this December. Is the phone ordering service fully automatic? Isn’t there some way to speak to an actual person while booking? It sounds strange if you would need an Israeli id-nr since many foreigners who is not able to book at the Hebrew site probably uses the phone service. I will be following this thread, and hope you find a solution. When you do, please post here so others (In this case me! :-D) can benefit!

It most probably means the automated system is programmed only for Israeli ID holders - and there are quite a few of those who speak Russian and English. However, I would phone customer service at 03-6948888 (7 to 20 our time) and ask them for guidance. If you get a way to make the system work for you, please update!

The above number is corect, you will be able to book with a representative and they will give you a confirmation number. You will need to go to the side of ticket office at the bus station and print out your ticket before boarding. I do not recommend waiting to book as it can be very busy.

Ok... I've managed to do it! :)

Looks like they have fully automated booking service in Russian (or maybe it was because I was calling in the evening...), where it was not accepting my passport number. But now I have called the above mentioned number and chose English, so I have been connecetd with the operator, not with machine :) and operator had accepted my (non-Israeli) passport number and confirmed the booking of the ticket. In order to get the ticket I need to go to the automat in the bus station and print it out using the reservation number and the passport number.
