There are several ATMs at the airport. WIthdrawing money at bank machines and paying with credit cards (Visa and Master are most common) are the best ideas for Israel . Your credit card may chare a currency conversion fee, but it's still a good rate overall.. Using US dollars is not a good idea. They won't be accepted most places (store and restaurants), and the ones that do (like hotels) will give you a terrible exhange rate.

The one exception is duty free purchases at the airport because they are actually priced in dollars

NB there are two kinds of ATMs in Israel - ones operated by banks and private ones (usually freestanding, in places like malls and bus stations). Using a bank ATM is always the best idea as the private ones often charge you to withdraw money. At least 2 banks have ATMs in the arrival hall at the airport.

It's a good idea to carry enough money for your first day in dollars just in case you have a problem with the ATM at the airport. But if you want to change money, best to wait until after the airport and go to one of the many moneychangers that you can find all over the place in cities - they often give a good rate.

Use the ATMs at the arrival hall at TLV terminal 3.

You have to report to terminal 1 (where domestic flights depart) about one hour before departure, so take your time in terminal 3 (you can go up to the departures floor (3rd floor) and eat at the Buy&Bye shopping mall). When the time comes, go to the 2nd floor and exit to the ramp, take the (free) airport shuttle bus (yellow bus) to terminal 1, where domestic flights are served (the shuttle runs every 15 minutes, takes about 10 minutes to transfer to terminal 1).

In Eilat, most bank branches are located in front of the airport (look at the green signs here: http://goo.gl/maps/fTgzE

(A) - Eilat Airport (ETH)

(B) - Bank (there are a few more up the road)
