Rental car

Thanks for all the feedback on my last question. No longer planning on doing Bethlehem and Masada on the same day. New question - we plan to go from Jerusalem up to Galilee for a few days. Best to rent a car in Jerusalem and drive or take public transportation and pick up a rental car in Tiberias or somewhere else?

Take the car in Jerusalem. You can visit Bet Shean, Belvoir and other sites along the way.

Definitely pick up the car in Jerusalem - that way you can stop along the way, set your own pace, enjoy the flexibility and freedom.

Rent in Jerusalem, leave early, drive through the Jordan Valley and visit some of the sites along the way.

Definitely rent in Jerusalem. Public transport will be a needless time-suck.

Some of the rental places open later than 5 in the summer months. AND don't forget Sunday is a work day here and everything is open. There is also a surcharge for picking up and returning a vehicle at the airport.

Just another piece of advise with the rental car companies. On King David St. you will find about 10 different companies. It is worth taking the hour to compare the prices from each company. The savings can be significant.

Arielle-- I don't know where you count 10 companies, BUT even if you did, no one should be walking in and pricing vehicles. The best prices are obtained, in advance, over the internet. ( where yes, you should be comparing!)

True - it's a good idea to compare prices, but we've already learned more than once on the forums that you will usually get better rates online than in the rental offices themselves.
