Early March tour-must haves..clothes, shoes, etc.

my college age daughters will be part of a tour in early March. Any great tips for clothing, shoes, packing for them? Thanks much!

They should bring comfortable walking shoes and socks, water shoes, long slacks, at least one long skirt (below the knees), long sleeved shirts as well as T-shirts and a sweater, sweatshirt and light jacket. While early March is still cold (50's) it could potentially get warm (70's). In this case dressing with layers will allow them to peel off layers should that become necessary. A rain poncho would also be helpful as this is still rainy season.

If they are on a tour, they may also be going to the Dead Sea so they should bring a bathing suit. They should also bring a day pack and extra shoes in case of rain that one pair gets wet. A pashmina comes in handy in the cooler evenings and as a cover up for religious sites.

Leave hair dryers at home. You would need an electrical converter. For most other appliances, a plug adapter is sufficient.

If they are going on Birthright they should get a list of suggestions.

Make sure that the shoes are not slippery on wet surfaces. Especially in Jerusalem many sidewalks are paved with stone that gets very slippery in the rain.

Suntan lotion and hats are a good idea. It is usually pretty sunny in March and they will probably be outside most of the time.
