sat in jerusalem-last day-late flight!

Our flight does not leave until 11:30 pm but assume will need to check out of hotel way before that! So need to fill the day. Will do the Israel museum as its open but other suggestions to fill the day? Not interested in Christian historical sites...Thanks!

Sometimes hotels let you check out after the Sabbath on Saturday.( time depends on when you are going) What hotel are you staying at. Even if they do not, they will check you out at noon and then store your luggage. It is hard to give suggestions without knowing what you have planned, Just consider Sat. a regular day on your schedule. Figure you will have to be at the airport by 8:30PM which means you will be leaving Jerusalem at 7ish. ( make a reservation with Nesher the day before, they will tell you when they will get you)

Hard to know how to respond without knowing what else you have done but here is a suggestion.

In the morning you can do the Ramparts Walk. There are two sides to it and it is a great way to see the city, both old and new from a different perspective.

Then head over to the Israel Museum for the afternoon.

Make your way back to the downtown to enjoy a final dinner before heading to the airport just after 7:00pm.

This would really fill your day.

Thanks! We will be staying at the Harmony. We will have been in Jerusalem for 4 days so will have done one full day walking tour , Yad Vashem, Masada & Dead Sea...

These seem like good suggestions. As for the Ramparts Walk. I am afraid of heights. Will it be too scary for me?

If we will be leaving for airport apx 7:00 I guess we should eat early-perhaps near hotel and of course non-kosher!

The ramparts walk isn't really very high, but there are a lot of steps and the each step is very high. You get some really good views over Jerusalem, the Mt. of Olives and especially the Old City.. It is a good workout. :).

Afraid of heights? Don't do the ramparts walk.

If you are afraid of heights your biggest problem will be getting up to the ramparts and then getting down - plus one or two spots when you can't avoid that you are up high. Better to not take the chance and risk spoiling your last day in Jerusalem.

If you haven't yet then you can look into the Museum of Jerusalem history at the David Citadel and the Islamic Art Museum in Rechavia (a neighborhood in Jerusalem) this museum also has a fascinating collection of old time pieces.

Thanks. One museum per day is the limit for my husband so if we r doing the Israel museum that will be it. So, Ramparts seem out for me. Will need something to fill afternoon-pre-dinner slot!

If loveisrael is referring to David Street, straight ahead from the Jaffa Gate, then this is the Arab market.

Not knowing your interests but knowing that one museum a day is enough I will suggest something totally different. What about spending the morning at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens. A 'garden of eden' right in Jerusalem. It is open on Saturdays.

Otherwise, a second option might be a 'shuk' day. The Arab market is completely open and you could 'do' the shuk and follow that up with an iced coffee and strudel at the Austrian Hospice tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g293983-d320662-… From there go to the Damascus Gate and grab a taxi to the Israel museum.
