How to get to Gush Etzion/Caliber 3

Our group of six has booked a two-hour shooting program with Caliber 3 next Friday from noon until 2 pm. We are staying at the Windows of Jerusalem apartments, Agripas 40, Jerusalem. We have not rented a car for the trip, having read so many posters on TA say that it is a liability in Jerusalem. But now I'm wondering how we will get to Caliber 3. Are there buses that would take us there? If not, any idea what a taxi would cost, and are there likely to be taxis available for the trip back to Jerusalem? Thanks for any insights you can share.

Caliber 3 are based close to Migdal Oz, next to Efrat. Any Jerusalem taxi should be able to take you there, at a cost of about NIS 80.

Have you asked them how they suggest you arrive, as they may have transport arrangements ?

Best by taxi as the bus stops quite distant from there and is not as frequent as one would expect. Taxi would be around 150 shekels each way for your party.

Cars are indeed a liability in Jerusalem, but for going to the Gush, they're quite handy.

You can take a taxi, or if you plan on more out-of-city excursions, maybe it would be worth it to rent a car for a few days (taking your parking availability into account, of course).

Thanks all. Too bad about the lack of buses. There seems to be quite a discrepancy in people's estimate of taxi fare--80 NIS vs 150 NIS one way! As we are scheduled to go there on Friday, will there be any problem getting taxis?

Hello! We will be making the trip from Jerusalem to Caliber 3 next month. How did your travel arrangements go? Any advice? Was it problematic to cross into the West Bank? Thank you :)

No problem driving to Gush Etzion or taking a taxi or a bus. The road is heavily traveled.

Buses to Efrat leave from opposite the Jerusalem International Convention Centre (Binyenei Hauma), across the street from the central bus station.

You can see the timetable at www.egged.co.il/eng. Note that on Friday the last bus back will be at least one hour earlier than is shown on the timetable for this coming Friday (if you look today or tomorrow) since the clocks go back to winter time this weekend and Shabbat will consequently start one hour earlier, precise time depending on the date of your visit.

In the end, we hired a driver to take us there and bring us back. Tomer Tours came in a very nice air-conditioned van for us, drove us there, waited while we went to caliber 3, and drove us home again. We paid 660 NIS for the six of us, and would have had room for quite a few more. BTW, Caliber 3 was EXCELLENT--we arranged this for the kids, but the adults enjoyed it at least as much!
