Train from Tel Aviv to Haifa, generaly run on time?

Does the train generally leave and arrive at given times?

My experience is somewhat limited, but I have taken the train on the two of the past three trips, and they were pretty much on time. Doing it again in May!

Trains in Israel are reliable in my experience and have always been on time when I depended on them. The opposite of trains in Canada which are so unreliable you can never depend on the timing if you need to get anywhere.

Okay, thanks. Will be very helpful in planing if they run on time, don't want to waste any of our time in Israel.

I think you'll find the train a very easy and reliable way to travel in Israel (assuming the limited routes work for you). I'm sold on them.

Trains are very well in Israel. However, try to avoide Sunday Mornings and Thursday Evenings when hundreds of solders find there home from their bases. Also, if you want an easy Enterance to Jerusalem, skip to the bus, the train line does not bring you to a connienet plaxe and alsonit takes longer than the bus.

Good luck and enjoy Haifa!

Yes, I take that train all the time and apart from in extreme weather situations it's usually on time, sometimes 5 minutes late if they hold the train because of a late connection. NB the north carriage of every train is reserved seating, i.e. a much more empty carriage. If the train is busy, you can go and sit there, and you just pay a 5 shekel supplement to the attendant (you can also pay this supplement in advance but you don't need to, and the train is usually not full, apart from the peak times mentioned above).

If you want reserved seating the TA /Haifa and return trains, how far in advance can you reserve and buy tickets? Unfortunately our day is a Sunday, and the evening starts Memorial Day (May 4)

Not every train has a reserved car. So while that doesn't answer your question, it is something to keep in mind.
