travel and visa tel aviv to amman

we have booked a tour to fly from Manchester to Tel Aviv and spend a week in Israel and would like to extend our stay by travelling on to Amman, taking a tour of Jordan and then flying back from Amman.

a) do we need any visas to do this and where do we get them from if we do?

b) which airlines fly from Tel Aviv to Amman?--I seem to be having difficulty finding ones without long stop overs and extortionate prices!!

c) would it be any easier to work the other way round--fly to Amman and then travel to Tel Aviv for the tour?

i have been going round in circles for some time and would appreciate any help on this--we are both in our sixties and not too good a travelling light but like to be as independent as possible!!

thanks

Several options:

1) Consider flying from Manchester to Amman, touring Jordan ending in Aqaba (not too far from Petra and Wadi Rum) - crossing by land to Eilat (Israel), taking the inexpensive domestic flights to Tel Aviv and start your Israel tour.

2) Flying from Manchester to Tel Aviv - taking a tour around Israel, finish at Eilat and cross by land to Aqaba, begin you Jordan tour and end in Amman. Fly from Amman to Manchester.
