We only have one day to see Petra from Aqaba port

We are arriving by cruise ship on the 29th April 2018 at Aqaba port. We only have from 8am (but maybe 9:30 before we can disembark) up to 11pm that same day.

We want to see Petra most of all but also the Baptism site. We are thinking of renting a car or a taxi or a driver/tour guide. Which is the best to do? I know it is such a rush, but we would like to see as much as we could, if we could ;)

We are also going to Jerusalem. Would it be better to see the Dead Sea and the Baptism site from Israel side?

Thank you for the tips! :)

You just have time for Petra and nothing else. Anyway the Baptism site is extremely far from Aqaba.

Welcome to Jordan

You will not have time for both: Petra and Baptism site in one day!

Book in advance private car with English speaking driver from Aqaba to Petra, and on your way back to Aqaba, you can have short stop at Wadi Rum.

Baptism site and Dead Sea you can visit from Jerusalem if you have enough time.

Enjoy

Yes, the Baptism site is about a four hour drive (one way) from Aqaba.

The ship will certainly organise a visit to Petra; you can arrange it alone, see the other threads here, there have been several lately.

Was there last week. I would rent a car and drive to Wadi Rum. I entered Petra a two Pm and stayed till dusk. About two hour drive each way.

Bethany Baptism Site in Jordan is historic site. no longer on actual river as it has moved. It is more recognized as the site than Isreal side. But they do take you to river side and you see Isreal side 10 meters away.
