Self guided walk in Beirut

We have been trying to find a waking tour in Beirut that we can join tomorrow, Saturday. BUT it seems that everyone has their organised tours on Sunday, so, we plan to do this ourselves.

Can anyone suggest what we should go and see, where we should start and finish etc as well as places to stop off at for coffee, lunch etc. Also is it possible to go inside the Blue Mosque and how do we go about it?

Many thanks, the hotel staff have not been so helpful!
