I've too have only flown with Emirates out of the two mentioned but Etihad does get good reviews. Try posting your question on the Air forum for more responses.

We have flown Etihad. Like Emirates a modern fleet of planes, good IFE, maybe just a tad below Emirates.

They have recently introduced 30kg baggage allowance for economy.

I frequently fly with both airlines. The thing I like most about Etihad is their seats. For Emirates, their inflight entertainment system, although that is not to say that Etihad's IFE is bad. It is quite good but Emirates is better in IFE.

So price and flight times tend to be the deciding factors for me. Living in Dubai however, Emirates tend to win even when their airfares are slightly higher than Etihad's. This is because if I fly with Etihad, I'd need to add 1.5 hours of travel by Etihad bus between Dubai & Abu Dhabi airport plus maybe another hour or so for transit/wait time at the airport.

In addition to economy class luggage allowance you also get to carry golf clubs free of charge and if you join Etihad frequent flyer programme you get an additional 5kg of checked in luggage. I fly Etihad all the time
