Luxury Beach Hotel

Hi all,

My wife, 2 year old daughter and I are planning a trip to Abu Dhabi in the Autumn.

All we want to do is stay half board in a luxury hotel with nice buffet breakfast, nice pool with childrens area, sandy beach and then nice evening meal, ideally with a choice of restaurants although not essential.

When we have stayed in Dubai, we have stayed at the Mina A'Salam and the Westin in Jumeirah and we are looking for something similar.

It seems like everything except Emirates Palace is within budget. What would people recommend?

The St. Regis Saadiyat Island? Shangri-La? Ritz Carlton? Fairmont?

We're not a fan of high rise hotels so maybe not Etihad Towers.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

We stayed at the Al Raha Beach hotel last year and that was very nice, a bit out of town, but we had a car, they have a Shopping Mall attached to the hotel which is useful, and they have a nice pool area for the children. Also stayed at the Khalidya Palace last Nov and that was too very nice over the road from the Emirates Palace, but this is a dry hotel so no alcohol.

The Fairmont may meet all your needs. Nice pool with shaded children's pool area. Beach area with plenty of loungers + umbrellas. Buffet restaurant very good for breakfast & dinner + other restaurants including a Chocolate gallery. There is a small Souk a short walk away with a number of restaurants and shops inc a supermarket.

I would highly recommend the gold floor but all rooms throughout the hotel are large. The staff in all areas of the hotel are amazing.

I would suggest the Sheraton Abu Dhabi. Its in the city centre, has its own beach and one of the best bars in town. A hop skip jump away from the corniche, and other attractions.

Another great hotel with its own beach is the Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, which is attached to the Abu Dhabi Mall and is in the city centre as well.

There are hotels like the Sofitel and the Ritz Carlton Corniche which have everything you have asked for, but they dont have their own beach. They have regular shuttle buses that take you to the public beach.

The other hotels mentioned above are quite away from the city but taxis are easy to find at the Fairmont.

I LOVE the St Regis. Saadiyat is beautiful and this hotel borders onto the open sea. There are a cluster of shops behind the hotel called The Collection which are just opened. However it's slightly out of the way. Depends on whether you like the open space. The Fairmont is nice too and more central, and you can book a room with a view of the Grand Mosque.

St. Regis is really a good luxury property, but you will miss the city life. Therefore my vote goes to Shangri La.

Note the Shangri La does not have ocean or open water beach. It's a man made beach on a river/canal.
