Abu Dhabi

We are staying at Fairmont the Palms early August and would like to visit Abu Dhabi on one of the days, we won't have a full day as we have to be back in time to go on the desert safari.

Do you know if Fairmont the Palms could organise anything. Is it worth going just for the day?

There are a lot of things to do in Abu Dhabi.

-Ferrari world

-Yas water world

- grand mosque

- lunch at monte carol beach club.

Highly suggest a city tour with Hala Abu Dhabi which is an operator owned by Etihad Airways halaabudhabi@etihad.com

Drive to Al- AIn & go to Jabal Al hafet mountain top. It's a must see & if can walk down all the way. It's an awesome walk.

You can take any metered Dubai taxi off the street; they'll happily take bring you here. Then AD taxis can drive you between locations and back to Dubai.

Yas Island is the closest to you, about 100km away, so only an hour outside the rush hour. The grand mosque is a further 15km and AD city another 15km. Then another 130km back home. It should cost no more than Dhs 500 (NZ$150) for all those trips added together.

You could easily fit this into a long day. Stay for dinner here or go back to Dubai.

You could arrange this through your hotel or a tour operator, but I really don't see them adding any value unless you're rich or lazy :)

Note the grand mosque opens to non-Muslims much later on Fridays.

Al Ain is in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, but much further away, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain form a triangle with sides of about 125km. It is indeed a lovely desert oasis but would need a separate day trip or longer.

There's a natural warm water stream that comes from the mountain & there's a park right before jabal al hafet where you can enjoy that warm water. Although can't swim since it's a tiny channel they have made so check it out as well.
