Fishing Lodge - Estancia Near Colonia del Sacramento

Would appreciate any suggestions for Estancia with excellent fishing and hunting opportunities in the Colonia del Sacramento region. Or even further north, we plan to travel to Iguazu Falls, AR at the end of the trip. Thanks!

I know a person who is the specialist arranging hunting tours further north in Uruguay, around the Paysandu area. The place is by the Uruguay river banks, so the fishing must be excellent too. His name is Federico Brun; email: cabeza292001@yahoo.com cell phone 00598 99 220 502. Good luck!

Thank you for the comments so far.

Perhaps you can give some advice into this 7nt plan idea - Arrive BA, overnight in Colonia del Sacramento and then head North - perhaps to the Payasundu area you noted - by the way is there a winery in that area -- and then travel to Iguazu Falls, return BA?

Or would it be better to go to Iguazu first and then travel over to Uruguay? We'll be traveling in late March.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Filipe Cantera, who is based outside of Montevideo in Salinas, runs outstanding nature tours of all kinds. He's an expert on Uruguay's flora and fauna and organizes the tours soup to nuts.

His website is www.aqvaterra.com

I'm going on a fishing / fish collecting trip with him on Dec 2-13. We will be traveling from Salinas to Artigas to Bella Union, to Salto, Paso Pache, and back to Salinas. Part of it will be dorado fishing on the Rio Uruguay. A couple of the guys with whom I'm going have been on several tours with him.

His contact info is on his website.
