Tiwanaku???

Hi I will be traveling to La Paz in a couple of weeks and I would like to know how to get to Tiwanaku? Any recommendations on local tour companies who provide this service, and how many hours will a full trip to Tiwanaku take taking public transportation? Thanks

We used Kanoo tours. I think they have 2 offices in La Paz. One of them is in the adventure brew hostel. From what I remember, the tour took most of the day.

Don't know about public transport. The guide we had with the tour was very good. If you want to take public transport, then it's definitely worth getting a guide when you get there!

Depending on how keen you are on ancient remains you may want to allow a whole day for Tiwanaku. We did a day trip using Crillon Tours. There is plenty of information on the web and we didn't really need a guide and thought that some of his information was a bit dodgy. Have a look at this very detailed trip report written by Wasleys here:

There's a small town beside the ruins, of the same name. It has a couple of hotels. I don't know their standard.
