What's a reasonable price for 2 or 3 day tour in salt flats

Hi

What is a reasonable price per person for a 2d/1n or 3d/2n trip in salt flats with a reliable operator like red planet?

It seems rates are distinctly lower if I get the operator upon our arrival, instead of booking n advance. Does anyone know how much difference are we talking about here?

Are custom tours better than regular tours? I'm worried that if I go on a custom tour, we may get taken for a ride (literally).

Thanks

If you want to know prices, why not simply ask Red Planet what they charge?

In advance, on the day? Group tour, and private.....

Hi I just got a quote through tucan tours for a 3 day 2 night from la Paz to the salt flats & back to la Paz for $AU599... Small group tour. Not sure how this compares as this is the first quote I have received. KP

I'd recommend going to the Kanoo Tours website and browsing some of the different tour options for pricing (they work on a published price basis, not quotes on demand). It will at least give you a point of comparison.

If you were to book things yourselves on arrival in Uyuni, they may be slightly less.

If going in high season (until end of August) I would probably book ahead.
