Coffee Triangle or Boyaca Dept?

My Wife and I have a couple weeks in Colombia. We will be in Bogota and Cartagena for part of it. We are trying to decide what to do with about 5 days of our time. We are either going to the Coffee region, including Pereira, Salento, and Valle de Cocora or to Boyaca Department, including Villa de Leyva. What area would be better to go to: Coffee Region or Boyaca? Thanks!

You could see V d L in a couple of days; however the 3 days leftover to see the rest of the Boyacá Department may only give you a short glimpses into this historically significant department. Geographically, climatically and culturally speaking they're at different ends of the spectrum, vastly unique. Boyacá's climate is cooler; the area around VdL is arid, giving way to Boyacá's green pastoral pastoral farming land.

On the other hand Eje Cafeteros offers a warmer climate - lush and Tropical and as its name suggests, perfectly suited for growing café and exotic fruits.
