Large camera/lens

One of my hobbies is birding, and I'd like to enjoy photographing the birds in Bogota.

Of course, this means using a large camera with a very large lens, which cannot be simply hidden in a small bag.

How worried about robbery should I be when going to places like Parque La Florida, Monserrate, Chingaza or just walking around the parks within Bogota?

Robert, it´s reasonably safe to use your camera in certain areas of Bogota ; the ares you mentioned are fairly safe, of course you need to take precautions and be aware at all times. Here´s a reliable reply from some of our major resident contributing camera buffs i.e. Johnny Bogota etc..
