When we think of Apia and accommodation we usually don't come up with beach fales but the first of it's kind have just opened for business at Taumesina Hideaway, in the village of Moata'a around 10 mins out of Apia on the south east coast road.
The fales are enclosed and are situated only metres from a beautiful lagoon that leads into Apia Harbour. The lagoon is great from swimming, snorkeling, fishing or just relaxing by. Each fale has it's own little veranda from which you can see some of the most stunning sunrises you're ever likely to see.
Nearby is a new dining fale where you can enjpoy a free Samoan brekky every morning. The toilet blocks are also close by.
This is a true Samoan experience, being part of a village and having the warm, welcoming and friendly villagers as your neighbours,
Taumesina is a family run business and the owners, Sara and Masi, will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need, fa'a Samoa. They have created a little piece of paradise in a busy capital, a place where you feel as if you are miles from Apia and for that matter, the troubles of the world. There's nothing like going to sleep at night to the sound of the waves gently rolling over the nearby reef.
The fales are 50 tala per person per night and that includes a hearty Samoan brekky. Taumesina Hideaway has been established for a few years now, originally with 4 unit type self contained fales, these are 80 tala per night or 140 per couple, with brekky.
For anyone looking to have a village experience in Apia I highly recommend Taumesina. It's not just for overnighters or those wanting a couple of days in Apia but there are long term stay packages too, it's so handy if you have the pleasure of working in Apia for a few months. It is my first choice when we're in Samoa and we stay for up to 6 months at a time.
